Excerpt from
"Family Traditions" by Eric Seppala
from "Once Upon a Park Bench" at the Actors Workout Studio

ANNE: Oh my god. You are mad about the pin!

CATHY: It's a brooch! And I'm not mad!

ANNE: It's hideous. It's giant. What am I supposed to wear it with? It's like a chicken or some kind of bird creature.

CATHY: It's a griffin.

ANNE: Oh.

CATHY: For your information, a griffin is a mythological creature that is half-lion and half-eagle. It's a symbol of divine power and it just happens to be our family crest—the arms of Öostergöttland.

ANNE: I...didn't know that.
